Cologne, the town where I was born
Where I grew up, here is my home
Cologne, skyline of new and old
Just from afar you can see the cathedral of Cologne
In the year 50 after Christ
The Romans founded Colonia
Then came the Franks, ruled 500 years as well
`Til the High Middle Ages when bishops took over the reign over Cologne
Cologne, big city of the world
A town between new and old
Cologne, big city of the world
Cologne, Cologne, Cologne
Imperial free city in the 16th century
Then came the French, then came the Prussians
Then revolution, factories, industry
A modern big city `til World War I began
The bombers came in World War II
And razed Cologne down to the ground
In `45 the British ruled the rubble
And the ruins which were Cologne
Cologne, big city of the world
A town between new and old
Cologne, big city of the world
Cologne, Cologne, Cologne
Today you shine in all your glory
Rebuilded and recovered you survived
Town of music, art, and media
Little metropolis with big heart
Cologne, big city of the world
A town between new and old
Cologne, big city of the world
Cologne, Cologne, Cologne
